Rochester rock heroes Duke Jupiter emerged in the late 70s， serving as an opening act for the eras biggest names including ZZ Top， Bob Seger， REO Speedwagon， Toto， Foreigner， Blue Oyster Cult， David Bowie， and many more. Yet the band truly hit its stride with 1982s Duke Jupiter 1. That year， the band played a free concert in Rochester and 25，000 fans attended， more than 10 times as many as expected. MTV， then in its infancy， frequently broadcast a live performance of Duke Jupiter 1s single "Ill Drink To You"; the track also reached the Top 20 on Billboards rock chart and became the bands first charting pop hit. Duke Jupiter remains fondly remembered not only in upstate New York but among power pop and melodic rock enthusiasts worldwide.
